Staying in Bormio: the practical guide for guests

In Bormio, your stay depends a lot on the season. Autumn, winter and summer change roads, transport, service hours and what to pack. Here you will find the practical information. For getting there and itineraries, see the guides linked at the bottom.

Before you leave and on arrival

  • Arrival instructions, access and any parking space or garage are in your confirmation and in our messages. If you arrive late, write to us beforehand.
  • Documents: we ask for a valid ID for every guest, children included.
  • Without a car: RE8 train to Tirano and Perego A070 bus to Bormio; the winter timetable applies from 14 September 2026 to 8 June 2027.
  • By car you drive up on the SS38; the Stelvio is seasonal and in 2026 closes between late October and early November, depending on snow.

The area: finding your way around Bormio

  • Piazza del Kuerc and via Roma are the historic heart, with shops, restaurants and the Collegiata.
  • Bormio Terme is in the village; Bagni Vecchi and Bagni Nuovi are towards Valdidentro.
  • Valfurva, Valdisotto and Valdidentro are connected by local lines; Livigno by the A072.
  • The Bormio ski area announces the 2026/27 season from 4 December 2026 to 11 April 2027.

Things to keep in mind

  • Tourist tax: it applies to non-residents for each night, up to 7 consecutive nights; the amount is indicated by us or by the booking portal.
  • Follow the instructions for sorting waste and recycling.
  • Emergencies: 112. Non-urgent medical care: 116117 in Lombardy.
  • For pharmacies on duty, check the official services.
