A weekend in Bormio: historic centre, spas and mountains

A weekend in Bormio usually combines three things: the medieval historic centre, the spas and the mountains. The season, however, makes a big difference. In autumn there is foliage and hiking, but the alpine passes are about to close. In winter you ski: the 2026/27 season of the Bormio ski area is announced from 4 December 2026 to 11 April 2027.

Saturday morning: the historic centre

The heart of Bormio is piazza del Kuerc, with the Kuerc and the Torre delle Ore (clock tower). The Collegiata church overlooks the square. Nearby is the Museo Civico in Palazzo De Simoni. Then walk along via Roma and its shops.

Saturday afternoon: the spas

The main options are QC Spa Bagni Vecchi, QC Spa Bagni Nuovi and Bormio Terme. Opening times and bookings are on the official websites.

Sunday: the mountains, depending on the season

Autumn: foliage and the red deer rut; the Stelvio Pass closes with snow, so check its status. Winter: skiing in the Bormio ski area; ski passes and rentals on the official websites.

Where to eat

Osteria La Bajona, Kuerc, Al Filò, Vecchia Combo, La Rasiga and Umami Pizzeria Bistrot. In low season, check beforehand.

Getting there

Without a car, take the RE8 train from Milano Centrale to Tirano and then the Perego A070 bus to Bormio. Check the last departure.
