«Il paesaggio come opera d’arte» (Landscape as a work of art): Lake Como villas and museums from 23 October to 1 November 2026

From 23 October to 1 November 2026 the eleven members of Ville e Musei del Lago di Como present their autumn programme «Il paesaggio come opera d’arte» (Landscape as a work of art): exhibitions, guided tours, workshops, concerts and talks about the landscape, painted, designed, cultivated and woven. To visit villas and museums without a car, the Bilocale mansardato nel centro storico di Como by Easy Housing is about a 5-minute walk from the lakefront; if you are driving, L'Arco al Convento has free private parking.

In Como itself

  • Museo della Seta (Silk Museum, Via Castelnuovo 9): on Saturday 24 October at 2:30 pm and 4:30 pm the tour «Dal paesaggio al tessuto» explains how an image becomes a Jacquard fabric; on Sunday 25 at 3 pm the workshop «Di che stoffa è il paesaggio?» for children aged 6 to 10; on Tuesday 27 at 6 pm a talk by Filippo Timo on landscape in art history.
  • Villa del Grumello (Via per Cernobbio 11): on Sunday 25 October at 10 am a talk on landscape between art and ecology with the Urban Ecology Lab of the University of Milano-Bicocca, and at 11:30 am a theatre workshop for children aged 6 to 12.

On the lake

  • Villa Bernasconi in Cernobbio: on Friday 23 October at 6 pm a concert by violinist Hawijch Elders with pianist Monica Zhang.
  • Villa del Balbianello: on Sunday 25 October at 10 am the guided tour «costruire il paesaggio», from Cardinal Durini’s loggia to the great holm oak.
  • Villa Carlotta in Tremezzina: on 24, 25, 30 and 31 October «La mia zucca di Halloween» in the upper park, among the autumn colours.
  • Casa Brenna Tosatto in Tremezzina: throughout the programme, the exhibition «Abitare il paesaggio», the lake’s villas seen by artists.
