The lakefront at sunset
A walk along the lakefront is the easiest way to start the evening: on the flat, past the boat piers, to the Tempio Voltiano area and on towards Villa Olmo. At sunset the light on the lake and the mountains changes minute by minute.
The walled town in the evening
Inside the walls the centre is largely pedestrian. In the evening you stroll between the floodlit Duomo and the squares, with stops at a wine bar: our guide recommends Enoteca Castiglioni, with many labels and wines by the glass.

- Ristorante Sociale: home cooking and lake fish, right behind the Duomo; our pick for lake fish;
- Osteria del Gallo: an osteria in the historic centre with traditional dishes;
- La Colombetta: fish dishes in an atmospheric former deconsecrated church;

Getting back in the evening
- Funicular to Brunate: if you are staying in Brunate, check the time of the last run on the official website beforehand. Times can change depending on the day and the season.
- Boats: in autumn and winter, evening services are few or none. If you are staying in a lakeside village, check the last boat or consider the bus.
- Trains: from Como Lago (lines to Milano Cadorna) and from Como San Giovanni (lines to Milano Centrale, Porta Garibaldi and Monza). Check the last useful train on the official channels.
- By car: the centre is a ZTL (limited traffic zone) in the evening too: follow the directions we gave you for the accommodation. See Getting around Como.
- Taxi: use the official contacts of the city taxi service.
