BookCity Milano 2026: 23–29 November, books across the city

From 23 to 29 November 2026, BookCity Milano returns: the festival devoted to books and reading that spreads meetings, conversations and book presentations across libraries, theatres, schools and public spaces all over the city. The theme of the fifteenth edition is «Il senno sulla Luna. Sette giorni di libri, ragioni e follie» (“Wits on the Moon. Seven days of books, reason and folly”), curated by Marco Balzano; it is promoted by the City of Milan’s Department of Culture and by Fondazione BookCity Milano (official information: bookcitymilano.it).

Dates and what to know

• Seven days, from 23 to 29 November 2026, with events spread across Milan and also in towns of the Metropolitan City and in other Lombardy provinces.
• The opening is on Monday 23 November at 8:00 pm at Teatro Dal Verme, with Colson Whitehead in conversation with Francesco Costa (official announcement by the Foundation / ANSA).
• The full programme is presented at the October 2026 press conference: until then, and once it is published, check bookcitymilano.it for the venue, times and admission details of each event.
• Many events are free or ask for a small contribution; always check the page of the event you choose.

What to do in the city (from our local guide)

• Between events: the Duomo and the Galleria, Brera on foot, Castello Sforzesco.
• Where to eat: Trattoria Milanese, Latteria di San Marco in Brera, Ratanà in the Isola district, Luini for panzerotti. Check opening hours and bookings with each place.
